Habitat
Dasornis.pngThe Dasornis's fossils were first found in England in 1854. A well-preserved skull of the Dasornis was found at the same place in 2005 at the Isle of Sheppey London Clay. It is believed that the Dasornis species flew over what is now London and its seas more than 50 million years ago. No other areas have had fossils of the Dasornis discovered.

It is believed that the Dasornis flew and settled in similar habitats as its modern species does. It may have required larger areas of water to fly seeing as it had a wingspan of five to six meters. It may have settled in larger lakes or possibly small oceans as it had a much more carnivorous diet compared to the Black Swans today.

The Dasornis may have also occupied in saltwater areas like the Black Swans as the surrounding sea of the London Clay, the North Sea, is a saltwater ocean. They probably preferred to stay in dry areas as their size and weight would be hard to carry while flying with wet feathers. They may have migrated accordingly with the season when necessary.
